It was opened in 2002 and it currently includes more than 2,500 exotic birds, 150 species of owls, canaries, toucans, eagles, flamingos and hornbills. The park has a unique walk-in aviary and a gorgeous 15m artificial waterfall.

Visiting the park

A trip to Malaysia calls for a visit to Langkawi Bird Paradise. It offers tourists the chance to have a great time, find out lots of interesting things about birds, interact with animals and take lots of cool photos. While visiting the park, an internal guide will present its history, its current projects and will reveal plenty of interesting things about all the exhibits. He will also show tourists how to pet and feed the animals so that they can interact with them in a safe way. As you can see, this is by far one of the most interesting things to do Langkawi.

There’s special animal food in the park, thus with a little bit of guidance you’ll be able to feed the animals and learn something about their diet. Once you arrive in the pond area, you will feel how the temperature goes down and you’ll start hearing the manmade waterfall. It’s surrounded by lovely mandarin ducks playing nearby the pond.

Main park sections

As you move from one section to the other, you will see new, different birds and you’ll be able to get to know various species. The scenery, the smells, the air and the sounds are quite different from one section to the other, because each area recreates the natural habitat of different birds. Travelers who don’t know what to do in Malaysia should explore this natural park, since it provides great places where they can take awesome photos, not to mention that the wildlife will simply mesmerize you with its beauty.

Most visitors adore seeing the huge, terrifying crocodiles, cute raccoons, and bright pheasants. You will even be able to admire various species of reptiles, mammals, birds and more. If you love birds and you can’t find what to do in Langkawi, you are advised to visit the Aviary Section of the Langkawi Bird Paradise. It’s quite large and filled with colorful, loud, big and small birds. The most popular exhibits are the white-bellied sea eagle, the palm cockatoo, as well as several species of pheasant: the silver pheasant, the Lady Amhest pheasant, etc. Visitors will also enjoy watching budgerigars, flamingos, Guinea fowls and great white pelicans flying in a natural habitat. This place is also called Budgerigars and is one of the most popular areas because the birds are very friendly.

During your journey inside the Langkawi Bird Paradise, you’ll be able to feed monkeys, ostriches and Arapaimas, and admire several other animals including Guinea pigs, raccoons, donkeys, and Malayan Porcupines. The person leading the tour will show you where to get the special food from, and then you will be free to befriend the animals. Besides, reptile enthusiasts will get the chance to get closer to the Reticulated Python or to the Salt Water Crocodile, which are two of the most famous exhibits found at Langkawi Bird Paradise.
